make sure you keep it clean and please dont wear thongs with it unbangaged it turns everyones stomachSo apparently i have an infected ingrown toe nail and i have an doctors appt tomorow to deal with it...?
The infection is concerning. The ingrown nail will become really painful if you don't get it taken care of.

The doctor will cut the nail and then trim it back. He will also start you on some antibiotic to clear up the infection.

Be aware that he may give you a few small shots in that toe to numb it so you won't feel it. There will probably be a little blood when he cuts the nail.

Nothing to worry about. He'll put a bandage on it, and you'll be able to walk out of there.
depends how bad it is if you have only a little section of your toenail ingrown then they will perform a 'wedge resection';, meaning they'll put you under or no sleep and will work on cutting part of your toe nail and pulling the skin back. If it's your whole toenail, like I had, then they will do a ';whole resection';, put you into sleep and will cut your toenail enough to push the skin back. They may also cut parts of your skin. After the operation, it will all be bandaged and you won't be able to see what they've done. You'll probably have about a week off to lay around the house not walking on it as much. After a week, they'll remove the bandages and you'll see the stitching and work they've done on your toe. It's not a pretty sight, so they give you prescriptions that you'll have to take for about 2 weeks. After that, your toe will all be cleared up, and won't have any pain.

Now it looks like a normal toe. I can kick balls, go swimming with mates without trying to cover it up. My suggestion would just do what the doctor says, Buy magazines or something to amuse yourself through the week of recovery, then enjoy your new toe!!:)
if anyone can help you. i can. i have had 15 of them. if you get the surgery what will happen is your toe will be numbed they will remove partial or all of your nail. at this time you will feel no pain. later on after your appt rest and take pain pills because once the toe numbing wears off you will feel pain. you should wear open toed shoes and make sure your toe is badged with lots of gauze that way if someone steps on it it wont be AS painful.you should feel good to go after a couple days. good luck.

:)
I had an infected hangnail and It hurt so bad And swelled up and I had to go to the ER. All they do Is poke a hold In your cuticle and drain the puss. It doesnt hurt. They put this freezing ointment on it. It feels really good and takes any pain away that you would feel. Dont worry about It. Its nothing major.
If you got infected at one of those filthy pedicure parlors, you might lose a toe, or at least have treatment for fungus that won't go away easily.

No worries. They'll use pain killer and you won't have to watch unless you want to.
Numb it. and fix it. It can't hurt much morse than it does, right?

You could soak your feet tonight in warm water to soften the skin.
