That has to be some kind of muscle or tendon problem causing that pain. A toenail by itself shouldn't have any pain in it, so something has to be pulling on it. To stop the pulling on it take your thumb and press up under the toe at the base of the toe and hold that pressure on the toe for 30 seconds. That should help release the pain you are experiencing.Any remedy for toe-nail pain?
if there is an open sore or something like that crush up an aspirin or tylenol or a stronger painkiller like a hydrocodone with a drop or two of water and rub on the sore. sometimes that can help alleviate some pain.
