Is it a type of fungus aas to why my toe nail has turned black? nothing was dropped on it?

Hi

Nail fungus can spread very quickly if left untreated - a hot sweaty sock is the ideal breeding ground for the fungus.

The thing to do now is to act - dont just hope it will go away.

As you are in the first stages with only one nail infected and possibly a second, set aside 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening to give your nail a good soak in something acid such as vinegar. Fungus cannot live in an acidic environment so create one for it.

try to let your feet breathe wherever possible. Change your socks twice a day and only wear light cotton ones.

After a month you should see an improvement - two months the distorted nail should have grown out - dont stop the treattement though because the likleyhood is it may flair up again - continue the treatment for a good three months in total. Is it a type of fungus aas to why my toe nail has turned black? nothing was dropped on it?
It's fungus you need antibiotics my brother has the same thing on his toes it is sooo gross!!!Is it a type of fungus aas to why my toe nail has turned black? nothing was dropped on it?
Since you say nothing happened to it that would explain it then I agree, dark is cause to worry. Yellow or even brownish is fungal. Dark means it is blood or rotting tissue and in either case is a good reason to get to a doctor asap.

Don't waste time, even a few hours could cost you your toe.

Go to the emergency room.
if it wasn't traumatized, it may have no blood circulation. Nail fungus is usually gradual and yellow discoloration. Black is highly uncommon. Do you have diabetes in the family? That is a usual cause.
