Can any one tell me a)why egg on boiling become hard .? b)why toe nail grow slower than finger nail?

The proteins dont coagulate, they denature- The tertiary and secondary structure of proteins determine if they are soluble and liquid-Upon unfolding because of heat, they become insoluble, interact with each other, and form a single mass of loosely polymerized proteins. Toenails DO grow slower, because of genetic control on the deposition of protein. This is likely regulated by what evolution learned about the average time it takes to wear down the two in different situations. Can any one tell me a)why egg on boiling become hard .? b)why toe nail grow slower than finger nail?
There may be another reason for toe nails growing slower than finger nails. I read a few years ago that the nails on your dominant hand grow quicker than those on the other hand (this means that if you are right-handed, the nails on your right hand grow quicker). I reckon the reason for this must have something to do with the use of the muscles in the fingers, causing more blood and oxygen to reach the finger nails. Similarly the muscles in your fingers are used more than those in your toes, hence the slower toe nail growth. Can any one tell me a)why egg on boiling become hard .? b)why toe nail grow slower than finger nail?
a) most proteins start to coagulate at over 49 degrees celcius. When you heat an egg (don't acutally need to boil) the protein chains shrivel up, like if you heat plastic. The makes the albumen (the white) go from cleat to white and the whole lot got hard

b. toe nails wear against footware all day. I guess you would have to study a group of people who never wear shoes to see if they actually grow slower.
