What can i use on an ingrown toe nail?

my husband has a very bad ingrown toe nail he said long a go a doctor used a chemical on his other foot (nail) and never came back does anyone knows this chemical? does anyone knows of a better way to get rit of it besides cutting it every week or so?What can i use on an ingrown toe nail?
I am a nurse and used to work for a podiatrist. Your hubby had this acid-like stuff put on his toenail that prevented that part of the nail from growing back and you can't buy it over the counter. He will have to have the part cut out now that he is having problems with and the same stuff put on this toenail. He will recover shortly and if it is giving him that many problems he should probably go ahead and do it. Otherwise just keep trimming it. If it gets infected I would go in and soak it in some epsom salt. Hope this helps! What can i use on an ingrown toe nail?
You have had some pretty good answers, but I will give you one too. I soaked my foot in salt water when I had mine. Believe it or not, salt water toughens the skin around the nail. The person that told you about putting something under the nail had a pretty good answer, but if the nail is not long enough,go ahead and soak in warm salt water and don't cut the nail too short once it grows out. Hope this helps. You might want to check your husbands boots or shoes and make sure they are not cramping his feet.
I would to see a podiatrist if possible. You can try cutting it yourself, but you don't want it to get infected and cause worse trouble and pain. Sorry, I've never heard of a liquid that cures ingrown toenails.
if you tuck a bit of tissue underneith the corner of the nail thats cutting into his toe,,,,itll hurt like a mother....but after a while it trains the nail to grow out,not into the toe.nitrogen is used for warts...no need to use that for toe nails.
ouch!!Well my bro had one of those and hes only two and he had to get stiches so just talk to a docter about that !!Well hope his toe is ok!
Try a pair of pliers.
surgery?
