Why have my big toe nails gone yellow?

I do wear nail varnish on my toe nails but I do remove it regular. My other toe nails are fine. The big toe nails have got a yellowish tinge to them. Can anyone tell me why they are going yellow? Why have my big toe nails gone yellow?
It is my understanding that is due to two reasons. 1st being genetics.

2nd - you weren't always wearing an undercoat under dark colors. Or the type of nail polish you were wearing colored the nail bed.

Some belive it s not the nail itself but the actual toe that is discolored and that will have something to do with circulation. if u are truly concerned about it, especially if its poor circulation, then see your doctorWhy have my big toe nails gone yellow?
well....either your lack of calcium...or using too much nail polish.

ok, i' m a manicurist and i see that a lot...1 it could be from not putting on a base coat before polishing...which means when you remove your polish and continuously repolish, you stain your nails...you could try to buff them with a buffer for natural nails and see if that works...they also make a nail whitener that you can purchase at any beauty supply...2 it could be nail discoloration which is a disorder, or possibly a fungus...it all depends on how yellow they truly are and if it is just the top layer of your nail plate or if it is actually in your nail bed...don't panic, mostly it's just from nail color and especially if you wear a lot of bright colors such as reds, purples, etc. or colors that are less expensive...
It's most likely an infection.

Contact your docter.
Yuck!

Possibly a fungal infection, if you don't get it treated it could spread. Go to the doctor's to be on the safe side.
There are 3 main reasons:

Firstly, as you suggested, nail varnish

Secondly, it could be a fungal infection

Thirdly: toe nails often show signs of something else going on in the body. I know this is a generalisation and a very sweeping comment, but Drs are now being advised to check toe nails when making a diagnosis. For example, if there are kidney problems it often will show.
maybe you have a fungal infection?
Dark nail varnish causes this so try using a lighter colour. I have the same problem cos i'm always wearing dark pink, or red or other heavy colours.
red nail polish is known for yellowing nails..... wear a clear base coat to prevent this.

Try removing the yellow with a soak in peroxide.
its always best to use a base coat on toenails as we dont remove the polish on toenails as often as fingernails, its also a good thing to use body lotion on your toenails to stop them going dry
I know you'll hate hearing this, but it may be a fungus that's discoloring your toenail. See a podiatrist. I have also heard that you should go a week or more every few months with no nail polish on your toes...not even clear. Since sandal season is done, I would suggest you do that for a while and if the problem persist, see the doctor.
My mum gets this too, its most likely from wearing nail varnish, it stops air getting to the nail, you said you remove it regularly but do you put some back on straight away? if so, try leaving it off for a few days or a week and when you put more on make sure you don't go right down to the cuticle but leave a thin gap so your nails can 'breath' its odd why it happens to just the big toes though!
You've got a fungal infection, go to the chemist you can get tablets or cream to cure it
have you ever had a sun bed, that makes your nails go yellow
It could be a toe nail fungus.
You could have a fungal nail infection. Sounds nasty, but it's not really - you just need to treat it before it spreads to your other toes. If you go into your pharmacist and explain it to him/her, I'm nearly sure there's over-the-counter stuff you can buy to clear it up. If not, see a doctor. I'd say that's what it is.
No sorry....yuk !!
Sounds like a fungal infection, go and get it treated or it could spread to the other nails.
its sounds like a fungal nail infection
Thanks I was eating.
SOunds like the beginning of a fungal infection...see the doc!
